Artificial Intelligence Could Pass Human Tests in Five Years, Nvidia Boss Says

In five years, artificial intelligence could think like humans: According to Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, it might happen in just five years.

At a Stanford University economic event, Huang, the director of the largest artificial intelligence chip company in the world, was answering a question about how long it would take to realize one of Silicon Valley’s long-standing objectives: building machines with human-like intelligence.

He’ll adopt a human perspective.

“If artificial intelligence becomes as strong as you can imagine, then put that list of tests in front of the information industry, and we believe that in five years we will outperform each of them,” stated Huang, whose company surpassed its market value of two trillion dollars and rose to the third position in the world.

At this point, only Apple and Microsoft surpass Nvidia.

He is eligible to take the bar exam but not the medical exam.

As of right now, AI can pass exams such as the bar exam, but it still has difficulty passing specialty medical exams like gastroenterology.

The definitional dilemma.

Other definitions, however, suggest that it might go much beyond because scientists are still at odds about how best to characterize the functioning of human minds.

According to Huang, “so it’s hard to do as an engineer,” because engineers want clear objectives.

Huang also responded to a query regarding the number of semiconductor manufacturing facilities required to sustain the growth of the AI sector.

What number of chip factories are required?

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI and the man behind ChatGPT, told the media that he thinks a lot more factories are required.

Huang added that while more will be required, the quantity of chips required will be constrained because each chip will improve with time.

“More factories will be required. But remember that over time, we are also making significant advancements in (artificial intelligence) processing and algorithms,” Huang added.

“Demand is so high because computers aren’t nearly as efficient as they are now. In ten years, I’m going to improve the calculation a million times,” he declared.

Explosion in the domain.

The surge in artificial intelligence has resulted in a significant increase in the value of other companies.

Microsoft, which owns 49% of OpenAI, surpassed Apple earlier this year.

Additionally, the shares of companies that manufacture AI systems, such as SuperMicro and Dell, as well as chip manufacturers ARM Holdings, Broadcom, and Advanced Micro Devices, have increased significantly.
